TOILET DESIGN IN TOURIST AREA

-幕燕山脚下的公厕

-Public toilet at the foot of Muyan Mont.

本项目是由原先的公厕改建而来，由于场地条件的限制，最大限度的保留原有建筑的同时，充分的结合了周边的环境。

This project is rebuilt on the original public toilets. Due to the limitation of the site conditions, the original building was retained to the maximum extent, while fully combining the surroundings.

传统景区的厕所以及公共服务设施存在两个问题，即：如何被游客找到；公共服务的场所如何体现景区所要传递的文化。

原先的公厕并不在一条通往景区必经的道路上，再加上公厕周围被茂密的竹林掩盖着，来往的游客很容易忽视这样一个重要的公共基础设施。

There are two main issues in public service buildings in traditional scenic spots: how to be found by tourists and how the public service places could represent local culture.

The original public toilet was not on the main road leading to the scenic spot, and the surroundings were covered by dense bamboo forests, making it easy for visitors to ignore such an important public infrastructure.

设计重新梳理了周边场地的竹林，让原本茂密的竹林稀疏起来，白天浅色的建筑与竹林的色彩对比，凸显建筑物的存在，夜晚室内的光透过玻璃，吸引来往人群的注意力。加上与建筑颜色相近的指示导引牌，找到方向不再是一件难事。

Design recombs the surrounding site, so that the originally dense bamboo forest is sparse. The color contrast between the light buildings during the day and the bamboo forest highlights the existence of the building, and the indoor light through the glass at night attracts the attention of the crowd. With a guide similar to the color of the building, it is no longer difficult to find the direction.

竹子是中国文化中重要的标识。不仅瘦长，通直的形状创造出秩序感，同时阳光下的影子投射到白墙上，宛若一幅浓淡相宜的水墨画. 设计的灵感亦是来源如此.

他是一个公共厕所，但它也是一个水墨画中在山脚下的茅草屋。

Bamboo is an important symbol in Chinese culture. Not only the thin and long figure, but the straight shape creates a sense of order. The shadow under the sun is projected onto the white wall, just like an ink painting with the appropriate shade. It is the inspiration for the design.

It is a public toilet, but it is also a thatched hut at the foot of the mountain in an ink painting.

入口 Entrance

为了更好体现景区魏晋风骨，我们用一个大屋顶作为入口的强化，拉低了建筑入口的尺度，用色彩强化中国传统建筑屋顶挑檐的特征，让屋顶下方成为整个建筑的灰空间，也是建筑的缓冲场所.

In order to better reflect the style of Wei and Jin Dynasties in the scenic area, we use a large roof as the reinforcement of the entrance, lower the scale of the building entrance, and strengthen the characteristics of the roof of the traditional Chinese buildings with color, so that the bottom of the roof becomes the gray space of the whole building, and also the buffer place of the building.

墙体 Wall

我们对原有的墙体做了最大幅度的保留，于此同时，横向的窗户与竹林纵向的形态形成对比，外立面墙体的白色，拟作白纸，竹子与竹影成为这幅画的主体。加上玻璃砖的透光性，进入厕所内部时，可以看到竹子的疏影。

We have made the greatest preservation of the original wall. At the same time, the horizontal Windows contrast with the longitudinal shape of bamboo forest. The white color of the facade wall is intended to be white paper, and the bamboo and bamboo shadow become the main body of the painting. With the light transmittance of the glass brick, when entering the toilet, you can see the thin shadow of the bamboo.

屋顶

Roof

屋面做了简单的清理，没有做任何的改动，让原屋面的石材与背部山的肌理有很好的呼应。新建屋顶考虑到采光的影响，增加了透明的玻璃。

The roof has done a cleaning works , without any changes, so that the stone of the original roof and the texture of the back mountain have a good echo.

整个项目减少了设计师对于形式、主观意愿的创造，以局外者的态度，最大限度的保留建筑，环境的特征，提倡整体性于设计策略的意义。

The whole project reduces the creation of form and subjective will of designers, retains the characteristics of the building and environment with the attitude of the outsider, and advocates the significance of integrity in strategy.
